Telecare in pediatric hospice work

Investigation of innovative care concepts and the use of telecare in pediatric palliative care

In rural areas in particular, access to healthcare services is often inadequate. This applies in particular to specialized and outreach services. One example of a particularly problematic area of care is specialized outpatient paediatric palliative care for children and adolescents.

The project addresses this problem and aims to develop strategies and organizational solutions to improve the quality and efficiency of paediatric palliative care. Digital technologies such as video communication systems and digital collaboration tools will be used for this purpose. In addition, a transfer concept for the use of these solutions will be developed on the basis of the knowledge gained, which should positively change pediatric palliative care throughout Germany, increase the quality of life of the affected families and reduce the workload of pediatric palliative care staff.

  • Inadeqate rural health services There is a lack of health services in rural areas particularly specialised and outreach services such as pediatric palliative care.
  • New strategies, solutions and transfer concept Strategies and organisational solutions employing digital technology are being developed, as well as a transfer concept for nationwide pediatric palliative care.
  • Increased quality of life and reduced workload The aim is to increase quality of life for the families affected and reduce the workload of pediatric palliative care staff.
