eHealth solutions to support recipients of ALG II benefits in rural areas

The long-term unemployed have limited financial resources, are excluded from social life and have a high morbidity rate.

Promoting the health of the long-term unemployed is therefore considered to be of significant individual and societal relevance. In order to better understand the life (eating and physical activity) world of the long-term unemployed and to develop suitable health promotion measures, the research project aims to conduct a comprehensive needs assessment and develop recommendations for action. Building on this, the project aims to develop an eHealth solution to promote health in this vulnerable group.

The aim is to develop a tailor-made digital health promotion intervention for the long-term unemployed - particularly those from rural areas - which is intended to bring about a change in dietary habits and an increase in physical activity. The research project is thus intended to counteract the health inequality described below and the associated social problems and achieve a demonstrable benefit for the vulnerable target group of the long-term unemployed.

The utilization of the results is aimed at the presentation and publication of the data at specialist congresses and journals in order to contribute to a better understanding of the living (eating and moving) world of the long-term unemployed. Furthermore, the implementation of the digital health promotion intervention in the target group is of particular importance. To this end, a concept is to be developed within the framework of an expert group and with the involvement of the target group as to how the digital health promotion intervention can be permanently integrated into the target group.
