Facebook Data Protection Information

Please note: only the German version of this information is legally binding.

Furtwangen University uses the technical platform and services of Facebook Ireland Limited, 4 Grand Canal Square, Dublin 2, Ireland for the short message service offered here.

We would like to point out that you use the Facebook channel offered here and its functions on your own responsibility. This applies in particular to the use of the interactive functions (e.g. sharing, rating).

1. Data processed by Facebook:

Information about which data is processed by Facebook and for what purposes it is used can be found in Facebook's data policy: External link opens in a new window:https://www.facebook.com/about/privacy/update

Furtwangen University has no influence on the type and scope of the data processed by Facebook, the type of processing and use or the transfer of this data to third parties. It also has no effective control options in this respect.

By using Facebook, your personal data will be collected, transferred, stored, disclosed and used by Facebook Inc. and transferred to, stored and used in the United States, Ireland and any other country in which Facebook Inc. does business, regardless of your place of residence.

On the one hand, Facebook processes your voluntarily entered data such as name and user name, e-mail address, telephone number or the contacts in your address book when you upload or synchronize it.

On the other hand, Facebook also analyzes the content you share and comment on to determine which topics you are interested in, stores and processes confidential messages that you send directly to other users, and can determine your location using GPS data, wireless network information or your IP address in order to send you advertising or other content.

Facebook Inc. may use analysis tools such as Google Analytics for evaluation purposes. Furtwangen University has no influence on the use of such tools by Facebook Inc. and has not been informed of such potential use. If tools of this kind are used by Facebook Inc. for Furtwangen University's account, Furtwangen University has neither commissioned nor approved this nor supported it in any other way. Furtwangen University can only view certain information about the number of views of individual posts, such as the number of read or link clicks on a particular post, via its account. Furthermore, Furtwangen University has no way of preventing or disabling the use of such tools (so-called Facebook Insights) on its Facebook account.

Finally, Facebook also receives information when you view content, for example, even if you have not created an account. This so-called "log data" may include the IP address, the browser type, the operating system, information about the previously accessed website and the pages you have accessed, your location, your mobile phone provider, the device you are using (including device ID and application ID), the search terms you have used and cookie information.

Facebook buttons or widgets integrated into websites and the use of cookies enable Facebook to record your visits to these websites and assign them to your Facebook profile. This data can be used to tailor content or advertising to you.

Due to the fact that Facebook Inc. is a non-European provider with a European branch only in Ireland, it is not bound by German data protection regulations according to its own interpretation. This affects, for example, your rights to information, blocking or deletion of data or the option to object to the use of usage data for advertising purposes.

You have the option of restricting the processing of your data in the general settings of your Facebook account and under "Settings, Privacy". On mobile devices (smartphones, tablet computers), you can also restrict Facebook's access to contact and calendar data, photos, location data, etc. in the settings options there. However, this depends on the operating system you are using.

2. Data processed by Furtwangen University:

Furtwangen University also processes your data. It does not collect any data itself via its Facebook account. However, the data you enter on Facebook, in particular your user name and the content marked as public under your account, will be processed by us to the extent that we may repost or reply to your posts or write posts from us that refer to your account. The data you freely publish and disseminate on Facebook is thus included by Furtwangen University in its services and made accessible to its followers. Furtwangen University therefore processes data exclusively lawfully in accordance with the provisions of Section 6 (1) sentence 1 e) GDPR in conjunction with Section 4 LDSG BW.
